Scroll the Bible

Privacy Policy

Last updated · May 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Scroll The Bible (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (“App”) for iOS. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Who This Policy Covers

This policy applies to users of the App. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we do not control, even if you reach them through links inside the App.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Much of what you do in the App stays on your device and is not uploaded to our own servers. Stored locally can include:

  • Favorite verses and personal notes (via Apple SwiftData)
  • App preferences such as display theme
  • Whether you have an active subscription (derived from Apple StoreKit on your device)
  • AI-generated verse studies you save, comments you attach to saved studies, and recent verse search terms (stored in standard on-device app storage)
  • Technical data used for app functionality, such as timestamps used to limit repeated feedback submissions

Deleting the App or erasing the App’s data from your device settings typically removes this local information, subject to how iOS handles backups and restores.

3. Scripture Content and API.Bible

The King James Version (KJV) text is loaded from data bundled with the App. For certain other Bible translations, the App requests chapter text from API.Bible (operated by American Bible Society). Those requests are sent over the internet from your device and include technical information that API.Bible and network providers typically receive with any HTTPS request (for example, IP address and app-related identifiers as described in their documentation). They do not include your name or account with us, because the App does not require you to create an account.

Please review the API.Bible site and applicable terms for how that service handles data.

4. OpenAI (AI Bible Study Features)

When you use AI-powered study features, the App sends requests from your device to OpenAI’s API. Depending on the feature, those requests may include:

  • The verse reference and King James Version verse text for the verse you are studying (used so copyrighted translation restrictions are respected for AI processing), and
  • For some generated studies, the verse reference you asked the App to study.

OpenAI processes that content to return AI-generated explanations, cross-references, or similar output. That processing is governed by OpenAI’s policies, not by servers we operate for AI inference. Please review OpenAI’s Privacy Policy and OpenAI’s applicable terms of use for your region (see openai.com/policies).

AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete. It is informational only and not a substitute for pastoral care, seminary instruction, or your own study of Scripture.

5. Subscriptions, Superwall, and Apple

Paid features use auto-renewable subscriptions billed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.

The App uses Superwall to present paywalls and subscription experiences. Superwall may collect device and usage information needed to operate those features in accordance with Superwall’s privacy policy.

Apple’s collection and use of purchase-related information is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. Meta (Facebook) SDK, App Tracking, and Advertising Measurement

The App includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK for advertising and conversion measurement. Apple may ask you to allow or deny tracking under App Tracking Transparency (“ATT”).

If you allow tracking, Meta may receive identifiers such as your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), along with app and subscription-related events (for example, installs, opens, trial starts, subscriptions, and renewal purchases with associated values and product identifiers) as configured in the App. Meta may use this information to measure and improve ad performance.

If you deny tracking, the App configures Meta’s SDK not to collect your advertising identifier in line with your choice. Certain limited or aggregated reporting may still occur as permitted by Apple and Meta’s policies.

The App also declares Apple’s SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving, aggregated attribution of ads that led users to install the App.

Depending on your configuration, Meta may also receive conversion-related events through Superwall or other server-side integrations you enable in your dashboards; those flows are governed by the respective vendors’ terms.

For details, see Meta’s Privacy Policy.

7. Support Feedback and Ministry Voting

If you send feedback, a bug report, or a support request through the App, we transmit the text of your message, the category you selected, an optional email address if you choose to provide one, a timestamp, and an app label to an automation service we use to collect and route messages. Do not include sensitive personal information you do not want us to see.

If you participate in optional ministry partner voting in the App, your vote (for example, which organization identifier you selected) may be transmitted to the same type of automation so we can tally preferences.

We use these transmissions to operate support and community features; they are not stored in a user account database operated by us inside the App, because the App does not use login accounts.

8. Legal Bases (EEA, UK, and Similar Jurisdictions)

If laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on the following bases as appropriate: performance of a contract (providing the App and subscriptions you purchase); legitimate interests (for example, measuring advertising effectiveness where permitted, improving stability, and handling support requests); consent where required (such as ATT for IDFA-based tracking); and compliance with legal obligations.

9. Your Rights and Choices

  • Tracking:You can change ATT choices in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Subscriptions: Manage or cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings.
  • Local data: Remove favorites, notes, saved studies, and history from within the App where those controls exist, or delete the App to remove locally stored data from the device.
  • Regional privacy rights: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, or object to certain processing of personal information. Contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your request as permitted by law.

10. Children

The App is designed for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the App in a way that requires parental consent under U.S. children’s privacy laws. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us through feedback or another channel, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where required by law.

11. International Transfers

We are based in the United States. Information described in this policy may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your own.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the App. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.

13. Retention

On-device data remains until you delete it or remove the App (subject to device backups). Information held by third parties (Apple, OpenAI, Meta, Superwall, API.Bible, automation providers) is retained according to their policies and our operational needs (for example, retaining support emails you send long enough to respond).

14. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the App or at the same web address we provide in the App Store listing and change the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated through in-app notices or other reasonable means where appropriate.
